NOTES
1. The World is full of things we do not
know, things that are waiting to be explored. Learning science will develop our
capabilities for finding solutions to bigger problems and solving more
mysteries of the universe.
2. Science is a way of thinking,
observing and doing things to understand the World we live in and to uncover
the secrets of the Universe.
3. To be able to learn science well, the
first and foremost thing is to be curious and observe your surroundings keenly.
4. Most wonderful thing about science is
that it is everywhere, from the depth of ocean to the vastness of the outer
space.
5. Science is like a giant and unending
jigsaw puzzle. Every new discovery we make adds another piece to that puzzle.
6. New discoveries often change our
understanding of the World.
7. Science is not just about memorising
facts and figures or doing the experiments; it is about following a step by
step process that helps us in find answers to our questions. For example,
(A). First, we observe something that we
find interesting or we do not understand. This makes a question about it.
(B). Then, we guess a possible answer to
that question.
(C). After that, we test this guess
answer through experiments or by more observations.
(D). Then, we try to analyse the results
to see if it actually answer our question or not. If it answered our question
correctly then we got a success; but if not, then we do some more experiments
and observations to reach at correct answers.
8. The way we tried to find out answers
of our question step by step, is an example of Scientific method.
9. Scientists are the people who
follow the scientific method to solve problems or to discover new things.
10. Anyone who follows the scientific
method is working like a scientist.
11. Remember that, the science is rarely
done alone, scientists across the world work together, often in large teams.
So, if you cannot find an answer yourself, ask your teachers and friends to
help you out.
12. Planet Earth is our home planet. It
is the only planet we know today that supports life, and it has an environment
that we must protect.
13. To grow, we need healthy food to
eat. Our planet Earth give us a lot of food variety like rice, wheat, pulses,
pea, mango, banana, apple, orange, grapes, papaya, kiwi, pineapple, watermelon,
litchi, potato, onion, etc. And along with food, we also need water to survive.
14. India is a large and diverse country
in the World.
